Chiwendu Ihezuo recounts rough experience in China after COVID-19 struck

Nigeria international Chiwendu Ihezuo has opened up on her not-so-good experience in the peak of world ravaging Covid-19 pandemic.
She was trapped in Nigeria alongside Desire Oparanozie as they were unable to honour their second-year contract at their Chinese clubs following Nigeria’s government decision to shut the airspace to reduce the surge of the virus.
At the time of the outbreak, Ihezuo was playing in the Chinese Super League with Henan Huishang and the striker missed the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco due to the boarder restriction in China at the time.
“In China, everything was good until Covid-19 came and things changed drastically. Covid-19 restriction in China was very strict,” the former Pelican Stars admitted.
“The borders were closed and once you go out of the country, you can’t come in; it was a difficult period for all sports but we are grateful it came to pass.”
The Nigeria forward has since moved from the Asian nation to Mexico, where she is suiting up for leaders Monterrey.
