Christantus Uche handed Getafe’s No.10 shirt amid transfer uncertainty

By Oluwadamilola Olaleye

Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche has been handed the iconic No.10 jersey ahead of the new season, signaling his growing influence at the club despite uncertainty surrounding his future.

Uche, 21, emerged as one of Getafe’s standout performers last season, registering four goals and six assists in 33 La Liga appearances. His performances have reportedly drawn interest from several top European clubs, although no formal bids have been submitted.

As part of a broader squad reshuffle, the club confirmed updated squad numbers on its official website, with Uche’s new shirt number highlighting his elevated status.

The Nigerian international, who debuted for the Super Eagles during the London Unity Cup, is expected to take on a more creative role in the upcoming campaign.

Getafe have placed a €25 million release clause on Uche, underlining their intent to retain the talented midfielder unless a significant offer is made.

He was instrumental in the club’s near push for European qualification last season and remains central to manager José Bordalás’ plans—at least for now.
