Chuba Akpom: Super Eagles’ hopeful gets Middlesbrough offer to ward off EPL

There are indications that Nigeria and Middlesbrough’s striker Chuba Akpom will stay more at the Riverside following latest development from his manager, Micheal Carrick.
The Boro manager has confirmed that the club would offer Super Eagles hopeful Chuba Akpom a new contract extension in the face of interest from a number of English teams.
Carrick disclosed in a news conference that the club is not ready to let go of their star player during the winter transfer window as Akpom’s new contract with Boro runs until the summer of 2024.
Akpom has bee having a fantastic season with remarkable performance under former Manchester United icon with a return of 13 goals in 19 outings. An expliot that number of Premier League clubs including Everton, Southampton are considering snatching the former Arsenal player in the current transfer window.
A source closed to Middlesbrough said that a new 12 months contract extension is being considered for Akpom who is ready to play for Nigeria after switching allegiance from England.
Carrick who stresses the importance of Akpom stressed that“You know, when players perform well when you do well as a team in the division, clubs go outside and attempt to improve their squads and teams, so that is the nature of it.
“We obviously do not want to lose our best players because we believe we are on the right direction, but that is football, you know, football, everyone’s trying to improve, and that is exactly what we are doing.” Carrick said.
