Club Owners insist on straight season for 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

The top-flight club owners have agreed to go on a straight season for the 2024/2025

There have been speculations that next season the league will be an abridged format.

The decision was taken during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NPFL on Tuesday.

This was touted as a result of the paucity of funds and lack of title sponsorship for the league.

“I can confidently tell you that the 2024/25 NPFL season will be a full format and not an abridged one,” Rivers United General Manager, Okey Kpalukwu told reporters on day one of the NPFL annual general meeting in Lagos on Tuesday.

The new season has been tentatively fixed to kick off on Saturday 31 August 2024.

Meanwhile, the draw for the 2024/2025 season was made with holders Rangers International FC starting their defence against newly promoted El-Kanemi Warriors.

Remo Stars will face Abia Warriors away from home while newly promoted Beyond Limits will welcome Enyimba FC to Ikenne.

Beyond Limits v Enyimba
