By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria U-20 women’s national team arrived in Bogota, Colombia’s capital in a colourful welcome by the Local Organizing Committee of the tournament on Sunday.

With colorful traditional dancers and flag-waving enthusiasts, the two-time finalists were received in Colombia.

Players and officials of the team landed at the El Dorado International Airport after a 13-hour flight from Istanbul in Turkey.

After a light training session on Monday to shake off jet lag, the Falconets will on Tuesday intensify their preparations for a strong challenge at winning the trophy.

In Group D, Nigeria will face familiar foes in Germany, a team that lost the title twice in the final.

Venezuela and the Korean Republic complete the other opponents in Group D.

The 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will be the Falconet’s 10th appearance at the competition after taking part in all but one of the previous championships.

For the first time, this year’s tournament will have 24 teams with nearly half of the finalists making their maiden appearances

The likes of Asisat Oshoala, Christine Sinclair, and Marta are some of the stars who graced the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup field.

More stars will emerge at the end of the tournament.
