Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, secured their place in the final qualifying round of the CAF Women’s Under-20 World Cup qualifiers after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Senegal in the second leg of their Round 3 tie.
The match, part of the CAF Women’s Under-20 World Cup qualification, saw Nigeria complete a 3-1 aggregate triumph, with all three of their goals across both legs coming from headers off corner kicks.
Chinaza Kindness Ifeanyi opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 19th minute with a well-timed header, giving the Falconets an early advantage. Precious Oscar doubled the lead in the 68th minute, again rising highest from a set-piece situation to put Nigeria firmly in control.
Senegal pulled one back through Sokhna Pene in the 76th minute, but it proved insufficient as the Falconets managed the closing stages professionally to seal the win.
With the result, Nigeria advance to the final qualifying round, where they will face Malawi Women’s National Under-20 Team for a place at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.
