Nigeria women’s U-20 national team has progressed to the third round of the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.

This comes following to the withdrawal of Mauritius from the qualifying series after the Nigeria Football Federation were duly notified by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“Kindly note that CAF was informed of he withdrawal of Mauritius FA from the African qualifiers of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2024. Consequently, Nigeria is qualified for the next round of the competition and the mission of all officials of matches 37 and 38 are cancelled,” read a communication from CAF to the Nigeria FA.

Falconets trip to Mauritius next week and the return leg on October 14, will no longer hold and means the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup quarter-finalist are through to the next phase of the qualification tournament.

Christopher Danjuma’s side will meet the winner of the second-round tie between Tanzania and Djibouti in the third round.

The first leg of the third round is slated for November 10 to 12 with the return leg from November 18 to 19, 2023.

The NFF this week confirmed the re-appointment of Christopher Danjuma ahead of the second round games but he will have to prepare his girls for the third round.
