Continental slots confirmed as NPFL crown Remo Stars

As Remo Stars were crowned the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, three continental slots were confirmed with a game to spare on Sunday.

League winner, Remo Stars clinched the CAF Champions League slot while the second top tier club competition slot will be determined after the final matchday between Rivers United and Abia Warriors.

One point separated both teams after Sunday’s games but they are guaranteed of either qualifying for the CAF Champions League or Confederations Cup for 2025/26 season.

At the basement part of the table, Sunshine Stars joined Lobi Stars in dropping to the second tier Nigeria National League (NNL).

The last relegation spots will be determined on the last matchday.

Akwa United, Heartland FC, El Kanemi Warriors, Katsina United, and Niger Tornadoes can still drop to the NNL.

Meanwhile, the creme of sports and political arena attended Remo Stars trophy presentation in Ikenne on Sunday.

Executive Governor of Ogun State Prince Dapo Abiodun, Akarigbo of Remoland Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Nigeria Football Federation President Alhaji Ibrahim Gusau, and National Sports Commission Director General, Mallam Shehu Dikko were in attendance.
