Copa Del Rey: Monday Gift opens Spanish football goal account in Tenerife derby

Nigeria forward Gift Monday scored her first goal for Spanish top flight, UDG Tenerife as her team secured a 4-0 win over Fundacion Tenerife in the Round of 16 of the Spanish Copa de la Reina on Wednesday.
In search of its first win in four games, Granadilla Tenerife opened the scoring in the fifth minute.
Raquel Pena Rodriguez scored the first goal of the match from the penalty spot before Maria Jose Perez Gonzalez doubled UDG Tenerife’s lead 29 minutes later.
Six minutes from the half time break, Monday converted Granadilla Tenerife’s third goal from a rebounce, while American Sydny Nasello completed the rout with her 72nd minute strike at Ciudad Deportiva Javier Pérez
The goal was the former FC Robo Queens captain’s first goal for the Spanish side since joining the team from Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership side in November.
The win ensured that Monday’s side progressed to the quarter-final of the Copa de la Reina and they will face Levante in the next Spanish Liga encounter on January 15, 2023.
