Court strikes out divorce case as Nigeria keeper Olorunleke, wife move toward reconciliation

By Wale Mustapha

The lingering marital dispute between Super Eagles goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke and his wife, Tosin, appears to be heading toward an amicable resolution following the decision of a Lokoja High Court to strike out their divorce case.

The development came after Olorunleke, who had filed a petition seeking to dissolve their nine-year-old marriage, withdrew the suit days before the scheduled hearing on October 21, 2025.

In his initial filing, the former Enyimba FC shot-stopper admitted to adultery but accused his wife of impatience and lack of understanding during a turbulent period in their marriage.

Responding through her counsel, Tosin urged the court not to grant the divorce, appealing for the sake of their children. She insisted she did not want them “to grow up in a broken home.”

Tosin also accused her husband of disrespecting their marital vows by allowing his alleged mistress, Precious Daniel, to flaunt their relationship publicly on social media, adding that Olorunleke never indicated any interest in a polygamous marriage.

Delivering her ruling, Justice Ada struck out the case on Tuesday, noting that the withdrawal by the petitioner effectively ended the legal proceedings and cleared the path for private reconciliation.

With the case now out of court, the couple is reportedly exploring negotiations toward a peaceful settlement. However, uncertainties remain over whether Olorunleke will end his alleged extramarital affair or if Tosin will agree to any compromise arrangement.

Olorunleke was part of the Super Eagles squad that finished second at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast. He has previously played for Akwa United, Abia Warriors, Sunshine Stars, and Enyimba FC in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

His wife, Tosin Olorunleke, currently serves as the Team Manager of Confluence Queens, a club competing in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership.
