Delta Queens defeat Royal Queens to clinch Delta State FA Cup

Delta Queens on Sunday emerged as Delta State FA Cup champions after a 3-0 win over rivals Royal Queens.

The high-profile clash between two top-flight Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership teams took place at Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba on Monday.

2022/2023 NWFL Premiership regular season top goal scorer, Mercy Omokwo scored the first goal of the encounter in the first half.

Cynthia Mega scored two more goals to lift Tosan Blankson’s side to a comfortable win over their local rival.

Both teams will shift focus to the Federation Cup this week.

Delta Queens will face Paul E FC in Enugu while Royal Queens trade tackles with First Mahi FC in Ekiti.

Delta Queens also have the NWFL Premiership title in sight after qualifying for the Super Six. They will have to wrestle Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, FC Robo Queens, and Confluence Queens to claim the crown.
