Delta Queens will show regular season form was no fluke at NWFL Super 6 – Tosan Blankson
By Saheed Afolabi
Delta Queens head coach, Tosan Blankson has assured that the his side’s is fully ready to prove their impressive form during the regular season wasn’t a fluke as he targets the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership title.
The Asaba based side proved doubters wrong as they went through the regular season unbeaten to qualify for the Super Six, with 26 points to finish Group A winners.
And the gaffer, who is smarting from his side’s Federation Cup quarterfinal defeat to Rivers Angels, revealed that his  side are well prepared for the Super Six and will leave no stone unturned in the bid to win the league diadem.
“Well prepared for the Super Six. Even when the regular season was on, preparation towards the Super Six was also in place because Delta Queens qualified for the Super Six long before the season was concluded,” Blankson told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“The performance of the team wasn’t a fluke during the regular season, it was also shown during the FA Cup where Delta Queens lost on penalties to Rivers Angel after a goalless draw which was without the services of her influential players.
“So you still going to expect same performance from the team, because what keeps the team motivation from the state government is still intact.
“Definitely the team ambition is to win the Super Six, everything that has to be done to achieve the feat has been done.
With the support from the chairman sports commission alone, and the preparation technically and tactically is enough to lift trophy.  Every club (team) that is coming for the Super Six will be respected and given that attention to, but not to be afraid of.”
Delta Queens will be aiming to win their sixth Nigeria women’s football topflight league title when they battle for glory in the NWFL Premiership super six in Asaba.
The Asaba Queens last won the Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership crown in 2012.
