The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has rewarded Barau Football Club with ₦17.5 million and 35 motorcycles in celebration of the team’s promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/2026 season.

The gesture was announced during a reception in Kano on Monday, where Senator Barau also officially unveiled Isah Ladan Bosso as the club’s new Technical Adviser, marking the start of preparations for their debut NPFL campaign.

The event drew the club’s management, coaches, players, and leading supporters.

Nicknamed the Maliya Boys, Barau FC secured promotion from the Nigeria National League (NNL) in what Senator Barau hailed as a “historic achievement.”

He urged the players to maintain discipline, work hard, and target not just NPFL glory but also qualification for CAF inter-club competitions next season.

Expressing confidence in the team’s strengthened squad, Senator Barau highlighted the arrival of several new signings from across the country to bolster their NPFL ambitions.

Club President Shawall Barau Jibrin and Chairman Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji commended the Deputy Senate President for his unwavering support.

Speaking on behalf of the players, Usman Maidubji expressed gratitude, noting that Senator Barau’s commitment to youth and sports development “will be remembered for generations.”
