Domo Okara opens up on Bayelsa Queens’ ambition despite Delta Queens draw
By Saheed Afolabi
Bayelsa Queens technical adviser, Domo Okara has revealed his side’s immediate ambition despite his disappointment following his side’s 1-1 draw with Group A leaders Delta Queens on Wednesday.
After losing the first leg 2-1 to the Okowa ladies in Yenagoa, Bayelsa Queens played a pulsating draw in the reverse fixture with Etim Edidiong’s second half strike cancelling Mercy Omokwu’s opener at the Asaba Township Stadium.
Following the stalement, the Prosperity girls’ manager, who was habouring dream of an away victory, admits his side’s were below par in the top-of-the-table clash but is upbeat about their Super Six qualification chances.
“We had a game plan before the match, our mission is to come here and win because they won us at Yenagoa, our mission, our plan is to come here and win,” Okara told media.
“We knew it will not be easy and will be very difficult to beat them at home but it’s possible, so though I’m happy we got a point, even though I was expecting three points.
“They (Delta Queens) are the team of the moment now, they are still top of the log but what we are after is to qualify for the Super Six, once we qualify, then we will take it up from there. I was not impressed, they did not play up to my expectations, we have supposed to have won this game.
“We will give our best and I would love to go back to the continent, but my mission is to qualify for the super six first, then we will see how we can regain our continental ticket.”
Bayelsa Queens will travel to face Rivers Angels in their next NWFL Premiership game in Port-Harcourt as the Prosperity Girls are second on the NWFL Premiership group A table with 12 points from seven matches.
