“Drop 10%” – Victor Boniface reacts to boy who sold his boots

By Monsurah Olatunji

Victor Boniface has responded with humor after hearing that a Nigerian boy sold the boots he gifted him to a Rwandan player for $100.

The 15-year-old boy, who attended Nigeria’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Rwanda, received Boniface’s Nike Mercurial Vapor Elite boots after the match.

The second leg of the AFCON Qualifiers took place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in November last year.

Facing financial hardship and hunger, the young fan made the decision to sell the boots to a Rwandan player for $100.

The teenager later shared in an interview posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Brila that he used the money wisely, purchasing a bicycle, school bags, and a uniform.

While many criticized the boy’s decision to sell the boots at such a low price, some defended him, understanding the financial situation he was in. Boniface, however, took the incident in stride and reacted playfully.

In response to the viral clip, Boniface wrote, “Abeg, make una find this boy for me. Make he drop 10% of the money ooo.”

He continued, “I for give am jersey ooooo, but this guy fit go sell am again. If I give am money, he fit use am buy jersey too.”

Boniface’s light-hearted reaction has added a humorous twist to the story, showing his supportive yet playful nature.

Meanwhile, the boy remains among the many eager fans excited to see the Super Eagles take on Zimbabwe in Uyo on Tuesday in their crucial World Cup qualifier.
