Ebere Orji bags eighth league goal in Sundsvall’s defeat to Mallbacken

Sundsvall’s woes continue on Sunday with a 5-1 defeat away at Mallbacken in second-tier Swedish Elitettan but Nigerian midfielder, Ebere Orji increased her goal tally to eight this season.
Orji who was a former player of Mallbacken scored the first goal of the game for the visitors in the 13th minute.
The goal tends to be a consolation for Sundsvall and a propeler for the host (Mallbacken) as scored five goals on its way to a resounding 5-1 triumph. Kari Nicole Johnston started the comeback for Mallbacken in the 35th minute.
Four more goals followed for Mallbacken in the second half from Susanne Skalber, Jenna Debra Zuniha, Emma Eriksson, and Elin Hedin to compound Sundsvall’s woes.
The former Nigeria international saw 46 minutes of action before she was replaced by Estibaliz Munoz and has now scored eight league goals in 24 games this season for Sundsvall.
The defeat is Sundsvall’s consecutive losses after going down 4-0 to Uppsala in the previous game. This loss leaves Sundsvall occupy the tenth position on the Swedish Elitettan log with 21 points from 24 games.
The team will hope to return to winning ways against Gamla Upsala on October 29, 2022.
