Nigeria-eligible forward, Edna Imade scored her second goal of the 2023/2024 Spanish Liga campaign for Granada in a 5-2 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.

The hosts had to come from behind twice after the capital club took the lead twice but the Nigerian’s goal wasn’t enough to save her side from their third loss of the league season.

Athenea del Castillo’s shot from the edge of the box which beat Andrea Romero opened the scoring for Toril’s side.

Ivana’s own goal in the 38th minute ensured that both sides shared the spoils going into the locker room.

Naomi Feller restored Madrid’s lead in the 49th minute before Granada equalised again as Imade was on hand to tap into an empty net seven minutes later after Ornella Vignolla’s effort hit the post.

The introduction of the French midfielder, Sandie Toletti changed the tide in Madrid’s favour as she scored two quickfire goals within two minutes with the second coming off a backheel from Linda Caicedo in the 69th minute after restoring the visitor’s lead two minutes earlier.

Signe Bruun in the 89th minute headed in Feller’s cross to seal the win.

Imade saw 68 minutes of action before she was replaced by Naima Garcia Aguilar after scoring her second goal of the campaign.

The win ensured that Real Madrid kept their perfect start to the season Intact.

Granada occupy the 13th position with three points after five games.

Another tough encounter awaits the newly promoted team against league holders, FC Barcelona on October 21.
