Edo Queens are not letting Moses Aduku go – Sixtus Omokhagbor

By Saheed Afolabi
The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Edo State Governor on Sports, Sixtus Omokhagbor, is confident that Moses Aduku will remain with Edo Queens after guiding them to their historic maiden Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title.
Aduku led the Benin Arsenal to their first major title in his second season at the club as Omokhagbor describes the coach as a tactician and an invaluable asset to Edo Queens.
“Moses Aduku is a tactician, and we are not letting him go. When he left Bayelsa Queens, we immediately picked him because he had the qualities we were looking for,” Omokhagbor told nigeriafootball.ng exclusively.
Despite Aduku not achieving much in his first year at the club, he was given the necessary support to succeed in the following season.
“Yes, his first season was a work in progress. He came in, and we couldn’t get it in Delta. There are a lot of politics in football. We didn’t put him under pressure; we extended his contract with us. We are not letting him go.”
Omokhagbor emphasized that the Edo State government and Aduku have a strong relationship and revealed that his contract will be renewed for another two years.
“Aduku is a disciplinarian, and the second chance he got, he got it right. We have a very robust relationship with him, and even if we came second, it’s an improvement over last season,” he continued.
“I’ve told him that we aren’t letting him go. We will keep hold of him and extend his contract for another two seasons.”
This commitment to retaining Aduku underscores Edo Queens’ determination to build on their recent success and continue their progress in women’s football.
