Egypt 2023: Nigeria U20 call-up is a dream come true – Abel Ogwuche

It’s always the dream of every professional athlete to represent their country of origin or birth at international stage and Abel Ogwuche described it as a dream come true for him his call-up to the Nigeria U20 squad.
Nigeria will feature at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations in bid for a eighth continental prize in Egypt and Coach Ladan Bosso is not taking any chances in the U20 AFCON as he’s making sure the squad is beefed up with quality players.

Following his invitation, Ogwuche is excited at the prospect of representing Nigeria  and the Trelleborg FF defender is hoping eager to make the country’s proud, stressing that not all players gets lucky to get national called up.
“It’s with pride that I will represent Nigeria in the tournament,” Abel told Trelleborg FF website.
“It does that I did something good and I hope that me and my teammates can make the country feel proud of our achievements.
“It’s a dream that every child in the country has, to represent Nigeria at the national team level, and not everybody has been lucky to have that dream come true.”

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria have been drawn in a tough group featuring the host country Egypt for the 2023 TotalEnergies U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

The draw which was conducted in Cairo, Egypt also put Mozambique and Senegal in the Group A to battle for top spots with Nigeria and Egypt.

The twelve-nation tournament will begin with a mouth-watering opening game between hosts Egypt and Mozambique on Sunday 19 February 2023 at 16h00 local time.

The TotalEnergies Egypt 2023 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations will take place from 19 February to 11 March 2023. The host cities are Cairo (Group A), Ismailia (Group B) and Alexandria (Group C).
