Emmanuel Emenike calls for Victor Osimhen’s protection

By Monsurah Olatunji

Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Emenike has called for the protection of Victor Osimhen.
The in-form 24-year-old striker was subjected to rough treatments from the opposing players during their 3-2 victory against Sierra Leone on Sunday.
Osimhen bagged a first-half brace before he was replaced to avoid getting injured as he was the target of violent marking and the 2013 AFCON winner has called for more protection from referees for the Serie A title winner.
“Osimhen needs to be protected more by his teammates, the coaches, and even the referee,” he told Brila FM.
The win over the Leone Stars qualified Super Eagles for the tournament with 12 points and a match to spare.
The Napoli forward is now the leading scorer in the 2023 AFCON qualifying series with seven goals and has now racked up an impressive tally of 17 goals in 25 matches for Nigeria at the senior level.
Osimhen is also the first African to finish top scorer in Serie A after bagging 26 goals.
