Emmanuel Emenike Faces Olympiakos Reserves After Dismal Performance

In a surprising turn of events, former Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Emenike, finds himself relegated to the Olympiakos reserves, with indications pointing towards an imminent exit from the club. The 30-year-old, who signed a two-year deal last summer for a reported €2.5 million, has failed to make a significant impact, prompting the decision to sideline him from the first team.

Emenike, brought in as a direct replacement for compatriot Brown Ideye, now faces a challenging period as he trains with the club’s youth team players for the remainder of the season. Reports from Turkish outlets suggest that the club is deliberating on Emenike’s future, acknowledging the potential disruption his desire to leave may cause.

Efforts to secure a move back to Turkish club Kayserispor have faltered, primarily due to disagreements over personal terms, with Emenike reportedly unwilling to accept a pay cut. Despite managing to score four goals, including three in the Greek Cup and one in the UEFA Champions League, Emenike has yet to find the back of the net in the Greek League, contributing to his absence from Olympiakos’ matchday squad in the last 15 games.

The player, with a diverse career spanning clubs such as Karabukspor, Fenerbahçe, Spartak Moscow, Al Ain, and West Ham, has now faced a significant setback in his professional journey. With his absence from the club’s recent fixtures, it appears increasingly unlikely that Emenike will feature prominently in the second half of the season, raising questions about his future in the footballing arena.
