Emmanuel Petit, a member of France’s 1998 World Cup winning team has advised his former club side, Chelsea to do all they can to secure the services of Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen.
The Napoli striker could be set for a record-making move to England in the summer following an exceptional year in Italy. The Blues are one of the clubs linked to sign Osimhen as they look to add more firepower to their attack, having struggle to find perfect fit striker that will be in the mold, comparing with great Didier Drogba at Stamford Bridge.
Petit, who enjoyed playing in the Premier League with top two London clubs, believes Osimhen has the qualities with his physical prowess to succeed at Chelsea.
“If I was Chelsea, I would go for Osimhen over the likes of Marcus Thuram,” Petit told Football London.
“You know there is a striker’s curse at Chelsea but someday this will be broken and he could do it. I have followed Osimhen since he played for Lille and he was already a very good striker.
“Since he left for Italy, where the pressure is very high and the fans are passionate, he’s played brilliantly. They have so much pace in their game and he is physical, clinical and very confident about his quality.
“If Chelsea can bring in Osimhen, that’d be very good for them. He reminds me of Drogba somewhat. He certainly possesses the same qualities as him.”
However, he is not expected to leave Napoli on a cheap as couple of top clubs in Europe including Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester United among others are also showing interest.
