Enyimba bids farewell to captain Olorunleke Ojo after Sudanese move

Enyimba International, a stalwart in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), has announced the departure of their captain and goalkeeper, Olorunleke Ojo, at the end of the current season.
Ojo, who joined the People’s Elephant from city rivals Abia Warriors three years ago, has been an instrumental figure both on the domestic front and in his national team career with the Super Eagles.
In a heartfelt statement, Enyimba expressed gratitude for Ojo’s significant contributions to the club’s growth and success over the past three years.
His dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence have left an indelible mark on the club’s history, notably playing a pivotal role in their recent Nigeria Professional Football League title triumph.
“Enyimba Football Club can announce that goalkeeper and captain, Olorunleke Ojo, will depart the club at the end of the season,” the statement read.
“His dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence have made a lasting impact on our club, and we are forever grateful. Last season, he played a crucial role in helping us win the prestigious Nigeria Professional Football League title, a moment that will be etched in our history forever.”
Ojo’s final appearance for Enyimba will be in a match against Plateau United, scheduled for Sunday, where the club has encouraged fans to come out and show appreciation for his contributions.
“For three seasons, Ojo has exemplified dedication, passion, and commitment to excellence, and will always be a cherished member of the Enyimba family.”
Following his tenure at Enyimba, Ojo is set to join Sudanese powerhouse Al Merreikh, a club with a rich history of 22 Sudan Premier League titles and 20 Sudan Cups. His move marks a new chapter in his career, continuing his journey at the highest levels of African football.
