By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Enyimba Football Club has dismissed recent social media reports claiming that players, staff, and the technical crew received extravagant gifts and allowances from the Governor of Abia State and businessman Obi Cubana.
The reports alleged that the Governor gifted vehicles to all players and increased their allowances to ₦3 million each, while Obi Cubana was said to have donated ₦200 million for housing and accommodation.
In a statement released by the club, Enyimba described the claims as false, misleading, and without any basis in fact.
“At no time were such gestures made as reported. These claims are misleading and do not reflect the reality,” the statement read.
The People’s Elephant urged fans, stakeholders, media partners, and the general public to disregard the unfounded stories, reiterating the club’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and the welfare of its players and staff.
Enyimba also emphasized that all official communication concerning the club will continue to be made only through its verified platforms and recognized channels.
