As the abridged season of the 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) ends on Sunday, Enyimba secretary, Chibuzor Nwogu says the team is very delighted with qualification for the Super Six.
The People’s Elephant were held by Shooting Stars to a 0-0 draw in Ibadan but the result was enough for Finidi George’s side to qualify on goal difference, edging Akwa United, who won 1-0 at Gombe United to the ticket.
And the two-time African champions scribe is proud of the result despite they qualified by the skin of their teeth.
“We thank God that we were able to hold on to the goalless draw. It wasn’t an easy match and a game full of anxiety from the blast of the whistle.” Chibuzor told Brila FM.
“In all we want to thank and congratulate our players for the sustenance and consistency that they used to play the game.
“They played according to plan. Also to the Technical crew led by Finidi George. We are also grateful to him for getting to the Super Six this season. They have done well.”
Enyimba will face Bendel Insurance, Remo Stars, Rivers United, Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars at the Super Six.
The league Champions will be crowned in Lagos next month at the end of the Super Six with the top two teams qualifying for the 2023/204 CAF Champions League, while third-placed side goes to the CAF Confederation Cup.
