Eric Chelle: Victor Ikpeba calls for support for new Super Eagles coach

By Wale Mustapha

Former Nigerian striker, Victor Ikpeba, has called for the necessary support to be extended to newly appointed Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle.

Chelle’s appointment has sparked mixed reactions among pundits and football fans across Nigeria.

Despite the controversy, Ikpeba, who serves as a member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical committee, expressed that he was not surprised by the divided opinions surrounding the appointment.

“The appointment of a coach for the Super Eagles will always generate a lot of interest,” Ikpeba said.

“This is one of the biggest countries in Africa, and that’s the passion that comes with the national team.”

He further added, “Even if we had appointed Pep Guardiola (Manchester City coach), there would still be complaints. If there are no arguments, there won’t be success,” Ikpeba told Brila FM.

Chelle is expected to arrive in Nigeria on Sunday to finalize his two-year contract with the NFF.
