Esther Michael reveals NWFL Premiership ambition with Confluence Queens

Esther Michael has revealed her dreams with Confluence Queens in the second stanza of the 2023 Nigeria Women’s Football League Premiership season.
Micheal launched her coaching career with Confluence Queens as team trainer in 2017 before being promoted to the position of head coach and she has been part of Whyte Ogbonda’s set up, winning three matches before the break.
Ahead of the second round resumption, the Kogi ladies finished the first stanza with 10 points from six games and she has opened up on her dreams with the Lokoja based side for the Nigerian topflight.
“My objectives as a former footballer and now a coach is to take Confluence Queens to a higher level in the NWFL, to develop players from schools, grassroots who will go on to represent Nigeria at various national team levels,” she told Sportivation.
“The journey was not easy while growing up having parents who wanted me to stay out of football.
“But, I was determined and passionate to take football as a career. My dream was to play in the National team and to be shown on TV because I was always excited watching the Super Falcons play.
“I told my parents that one day they will watch me play football on TV and today my family members have had the opportunity to watch me play on TV.”
Michael began her football journey as player played for Nasarawa Amazon, Sunshine Queens and Confluence Queens and she also represented Nigeria U-17 and U-20 at the World Cup in 2008 and 2010 respectively.
