Nigeria forward Esther Okoronkwo has been named AFC Toronto’s Player of the Month for May, following a standout run of form in the Northern Super League.
The 23-year-old striker netted three goals in four appearances for Marko Milanovic’s side during the month, including a brace in the victory over Calgary Wild FC and another goal against Montreal.
The win over Calgary marked AFC Toronto’s first-ever victory in the newly formed league.
Reflecting on the achievement, Okoronkwo emphasized consistency and effort as key to her success.
“I need to have the same attitude and mentality for every game. To always treat every game the same,” she told the club’s official website.
“At the end of the day, we want to win. I always have the mentality to give your best on the field, and work as hard as you can, and let everything work out.”
Okoronkwo joined AFC Toronto in February 2025 after a stint with Chinese club Changchun Dazhong Zhuoyue.
Her early impact at the Canadian club underscores her attacking prowess and growing influence in the league.
