AFC Toronto became the first team in the National Soccer League (NSL) to reach 10 wins this season, following a hard-fought 2-1 away victory over Montréal — with Esther Okoronkwo playing a decisive role on her return to club action.
The Nigeria international, fresh from helping the Super Falcons clinch their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco, provided the match-winning assist in the second half.
She featured for 64 minutes before being substituted.
Okoronkwo was instrumental in Nigeria’s WAFCON triumph, registering two assists and one goal in the final against hosts Morocco, delivering the creative spark that guided the Falcons to glory.
The former AS Saint-Étienne forward has now tallied four goals and four assists for AFC Toronto this season, continuing to prove her value as both a scorer and provider.
