Ethiopia captain Loza Abera joyous to share pitch with African best Asisat Oshoala

By Monsurah Olatunji

Ethiopia women’s national team captain Loza Abera has expressed her gratitude at sharting the same pitch with five-time African Player of the Year, Asisat Oshoala.
Abera led the Lucy to a 1-1 draw against the Super Falcons in a 2024 Olympic Games qualifier at the Abebe Bekila Stadium, Addis Ababa on Wednesday.
The hosts capitalized on a defensive mix-up and scored the opener in the sixth minute and managed to see out their lead until halftime but were unable to see it through as Rasheedat Ajibade found the equalizer six minutes into the second half.
However, the captain who plays in the hone league with Ethiopian side CBE SA could not contain her joy at playing against one of the best in the game as she took to social media to express her feelings.
“Unforgettable moment with a football icon. Met Asisat Oshoala, and it’s a dream come true!”, she wrote on her X handle.
“Her talent on and off the field is inspiring. She’s proof that with hard work, dedication, and passion, greatness is achievable. Thank you, Asisat, for being a role model!”
She will however get another opportunity to face Oshoala when both teams meet in the reverse fixture at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, next week Tuesday.
