Etiosa Ighodaro: Nigeria striker set new scoring record in Chippa United comeback

Nigeria striker Etiosa Ighodaro came off the bench to scored an historic 10th Premier Soccer League goal of the season to help Chippa United registered a 3-2 comeback win over Richards Bay on Wednesday.

Ighodaro scored the first of Chippa’s three goals to boost their relegation survival hopes.

Hosts have raced into a two goal lead before half an hour with goals from Sakhile Hlongwa and Somila Ntsundwana before the Nigeria forward was beckon as first half substitute.

Ighodaro didn’t take it long before halving the deficit with a minute to end the first half with a sublime finish following a good pass from Ronaldo Maarman.

Chippa United who also had another Nigerian, Stanley Nwabali in their fold as reserve Goalkeeper scored two second half goals from Aviwe Mqokozo with Ighodaro providing one of them.

The Nigerian’s goal in the match was his 10th making him Chippa United’s all time top scorer in a single season.

Chippa United have now moved to 15th on the log with 29 points same as Marumo Giants who are 14th on the table.
