Everton, Lyon, and Marseille battle for Wilfred Ndidi’s signature

Nigeria’s acting captain, Wilfred Ndidi, finds himself at a career crossroads as Everton, Lyon, and Marseille compete for his signature.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, all three clubs have tabled offers for the 27-year-old Leicester City midfielder.
AS Monaco has also expressed interest in Ndidi, whose contract with Leicester expires at the end of the month.
Despite these enticing offers, Leicester City is eager to retain their prized asset and is working to extend Ndidi’s contract as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.
Ndidi, despite being plagued by injuries during the 2023/24 Championship season, played a crucial role in Leicester’s promotion. The Foxes topped the table with 97 points, narrowly edging out Ipswich Town by one point.
Having joined Leicester from Genk in 2016 for £17 million, Ndidi has made 224 appearances and scored 11 goals for the Foxes. His performance has not gone unnoticed, with GFFN highlighting his market value:
“Wilfred Ndidi (27) represents a unique opportunity on the market. It is no surprise that teams are lining up to sign the Leicester City man, an international midfielder in his prime and soon to be available on a free transfer.”
GFFN also noted that Ndidi is seen as an ideal addition to bolster midfield ranks, especially with Pape Gueye leaving on a free transfer, Jean Onana’s loan ending, and uncertainties surrounding the futures of Jordan Veretout and Geoffrey Kondogbia.
As the battle for Ndidi intensifies, it remains to be seen whether the Super Eagles star will extend his stay with Leicester City or embark on a new journey with one of the interested clubs.
