“Everything is going how I expected it” – Ibrahim Said reflects on smooth start at Motherwell

Nigerian forward Ibrahim Said says his move to Motherwell FC has gone exactly as planned, describing his transition to Scottish football as “smooth and rewarding” since joining from Viborg FF in the summer.
Signed for an undisclosed fee by manager Jens Berthel Askou, the 22-year-old has quickly become one of Motherwell’s standout recruits, earning praise for his work rate, creativity, and growing influence in attack.
In an interview with Motherwell’s media team, Said admitted that his early days in Scotland came with fitness challenges but added that he has now settled in both physically and mentally.
“Everything is going personally how I expected it fitness-wise,” Said said.
“I’m getting fitter day by day. It’s not easy, but I’m loving it here. My first days were just running constantly — I was thinking, ‘This is not football.’ But the more you do it, the fitter you get and the more confidence you gain.”
He noted that joining after pre-season turned out to be beneficial, as regular match minutes helped him regain sharpness faster.
“The games have also allowed me to get to know the players in the dressing room,” he added.
“I want to show everyone more about me — to create more goals and assists, and to prove the club made the right choice by signing me. Every day, my mindset is to push and give everything for the club and the badge.”
Said emphasized his desire to contribute to Motherwell’s ambitions this season, expressing readiness for upcoming fixtures.
“Going into every game, we’re ready. I’m ready to fight and show people what we’re capable of as a team,” he said. “We’ll keep pushing as one.”
Said’s steady progress has made him a key figure in Motherwell’s frontline, with fans and coaches alike lauding his energy, discipline, and determination since arriving in the Scottish Premiership.
