Ex-Manchester United coach Jonathan Hill expresses interest in Super Eagles job

By Saheed Afolabi

Former Manchester United youth coach Jonathan Hill has revealed his desire to take on the role of head coach for the Nigeria national football team.

The position has been held on an interim basis by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, Augustine Eguavoen, following the departure of previous coach José Peseiro.

The NFF is yet to appoint a permanent replacement for the Super Eagles’ managerial role.

Hill, who has an extensive background in coaching, particularly in nurturing young talent, expressed that the Super Eagles job is a “dream role” for him.

He cited the demanding nature of the position as one that excites him, emphasizing the challenge of delivering top-tier results for the national team.

“I’ve always known Nigerian players to be athletic, technical, and full of energy,” Hill said. “There’s a great talent pool here, and I believe in nurturing young players who fit the team’s philosophy.”

Hill also praised the qualities of Nigerian footballers, highlighting their natural skills and potential for development.

“This is a role I very much fancy because of its demanding nature and the push to deliver top results,” he added, expressing his confidence in helping young talents achieve greatness on the international stage.

As the NFF continues to search for a permanent coach, Hill’s comments suggest he is ready and eager to take on the challenge of managing the Super Eagles.
