Fidelis Ilechukwu hails ‘never say die’ spirit of Rangers at Sunshine Stars

Fidelis Ilechukwu, Technical Adviser of Enugu Rangers has commended his players’ resilience that earned them a morale boosting 2-2 draw against Sunshine Stars on Sunday.
Both sides threw the Akure Stadium Complex into frenzy as Godwin Obaje handed Rangers an early lead off Isaac Savior assist before Ibrahim Yusuf brought the hosts back on level terms before the break.
Moses Omoduemuke thought he had given Sunshine the winning goal when his low drive deflected past Japhet Opubo in goal for Rangers but the Flying Antelopes rallied late to snatch a late equalizer at the death through a deflected Jonas Emmanuel effort.
An elated Ilechukwu who described the result a tonic for his side in the quest to achieve greatness in the new season asked his players to build on it to get even better.
“It was a very difficult match against a quality side but as our slogan says, we never say die until the final whistle, that’s what gave us this important point,” Ilechukwu told Rangers’ media.
“I give my players kudos as we keep working on the areas of deficiency. My defense gave away cheap goals but we keep working until we get it right to meet the season’s target.”
Rangers have accrued 14 points from eight games and sit third on the log with Katsina United coming next for their Matchday Nine fixture in Awka City Stadium next Sunday.
