Fidelis Ilechukwu plots to monitor NPFL rivals in title defence quest

By Saheed Afolabi

Enugu Rangers coach Fidelis Ilechukwu has outlined his goals for the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.

After leading the Flying Antelopes to the league title last season—his first championship win—Ilechukwu is focused on assessing rival clubs and exploiting their weaknesses to strengthen his own team.

He identified Remo Stars as the team to beat this season, noting their consistency at the top of the league standings. “I think the team at the top of the NPFL summit (Remo Stars, currently with nine points) are the strongest this season,” Ilechukwu said during a press conference in Lagos.

Ilechukwu also mentioned that Rangers will carefully observe their competitors, including Kano Pillars, Enyimba, and Shooting Stars, especially after their recent continental ouster.

So far, the Flying Antelopes’ only win in two matches came away against Ikorodu City, where they secured a 1-0 victory at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena. Rangers will face table-toppers Remo Stars in their next match in Ikenne on Sunday, September 29.
