FIFA honours Victor Osimhen for amazing season with Napoli

The Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) has presented Victor Osimhen with a special jersey and ball following his superb displays for Napoli in the 2022/23 season.

The Nigeria international scored 26 league goals to finish as the top scorer as he played a pivotal role as Napoli won the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
With his goals, he became the first African player in Serie A history to win the Golden Boot Capocannoniere (Serie A Top Scorer Award).
The 24-year-old also became the first-ever African striker to win the Serie A Striker of the Season award in the league’s 125 years history.
The Super Eagles striker also broke a 14-year jinx of being the first player since Zlatan Ibrahimovic to win the Scudetto and the Capocannoniere same season
Osimhen also netted five times in six appearances for the Partenopei in the UEFA Champions League.
In recognition of his rise to prominence, he was presented with a personalized ball and shirt by FIFA through FIFA director members association’s Gelson Fernandes.
Fernandes presented the gifts to the Nigerian superstar after their final game of the season in Naples in the company of the NFF President.
“Victor Osimhen, you represent at the moment what football can do,” Fernandes posted on his Instagram.
“From Lagos to Napoli where people love you, you have suffered but your love for football and determination have guided you.
“Keep going, keep pushing. Africa needs examples and millions are watching and dreaming.”
