Nigeria’s senior men’s national team dropped two places in the latest FIFA ranking released by the world football governing body on Thursday.

FIFA released the November ranking on Thursday, November 30, 2023, with the Super Eagles dropping two places to the 42nd position.

The team’s 1-1 draws with Lesotho and Zimbabwe in their first two games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The three-time African champions occupy the sixth position in Africa.

Morocco (13th), Senegal (20th), Tunisia (28th), Algeria (30th), and Egypt (33rd) are above the Super Eagles.

Cameroon (46th), Ivory Coast (50th), Mali (51st), and Burkina Faso (57th) complete the top ten ranked teams in Africa.

The final FIFA men’s rankings are expected to be released in December before African teams proceed to Ivory Coast for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Ivory Coast will host the next AFCON in January 2024 with the tournament having an impact on February and March 2024 FIFA rankings.
