FIFA U20 World Cup: Garba Lawal warns Nigeria to avoid defeat against Brazil

Former Nigeria international Garba Lawal believes Brazil will be all out for a win against Nigeria in an attempt to reach the knockout stage of the ongoing FIFA U20 World Cup.
With Nigeria already qualified after winning their first two games, Brazil needed a win in their last group match to book a spot in the next round.
However, a win for Brazil could prove dangerous for the Flying Eagles especially if Italy defeats the Dominican Republic with a big goal margin.
Recall that Nigeria defeated Italy 2-0 on Wednesday to zoom into the knockout stages of the competition while Brazil bounced back to winning after losing 3-2 to Italy to trounce Dominican Republic 6-0.
However, the former Olympic medalist has advised Ladan Bosso-led team to make a statement of intent by avoiding defeat against the five-time winners.
“I am delighted that the Flying Eagles have booked their place in the round of 16 of the 2023 U-20 World Cup,” Lawal told Complete sports.
“However, the game against Brazil will afford the Flying Eagles another opportunity to make a statement of intent.
“For sure, Brazil will come out gun blazing because they will be desperate for the three points if they are to qualify for the knockout stages. It will definitely be a tough battle but I expect Nigeria to triumph over them.”
