Finidi warns Rohr: Super Eagles ready to strike fear in 2026 World Cup Qualifier

Head Coach George Finidi of the Nigeria men’s national team is confident that his counterpart, Gernot Rohr of Benin Republic, should be apprehensive about facing the Super Eagles in their upcoming match on Monday.
The clash between the Super Eagles and the Squirrels of Benin is scheduled to take place at the Felix Bouphet Stadium in Abidjan as part of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Having previously served as head coach of the Super Eagles for over five years before stepping down in December 2021, Rohr is expected to leverage his knowledge of the Nigerian team to benefit the Squirrels.
However, Finidi expressed the belief that it is Rohr who should be concerned about facing the Super Eagles, not the other way around.
“We should be the ones to instill fear, as we are determined to win the game and are willing to take risks to secure victory,” Finidi emphasized during a press briefing in Uyo following the Super Eagles’ recent draw against South Africa.
“Our objective is to replicate the impressive second-half performance we exhibited against South Africa in Abidjan. This approach will yield a positive outcome that will reshape the narrative, and that’s precisely our aim for Monday.”
