By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru was involved in a car accident on Saturday evening.

According to the Italian outlet Il Messaggero, he emerged unscathed after crashing his Lamborghini in the Italian capital.

The incident was kept out of the media over the weekend but was later reported after Dele-Bashiru played for Lazio in their 6-0 defeat against Inter Milan on Monday.

He came on as a substitute for Pedro in the 57th minute during their Week 16 match.

Despite this alarming incident, Dele-Bashiru is enjoying a solid season with Lazio, having scored three goals and provided two assists in 12 appearances.

He scored important goals for the Super Eagles during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers and the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The Lazio player became the second Super Eagles player to escape from a fatal accident unscathed this year after Bayer Leverkusen star, Victor Boniface.

Football players have been reported severally for reckless driving, speeding, and drunk driving, leading to accidents.
