Five Liverpool stars set to return to starting line-up for Villarreal clash

No fewer than five members of Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad are expected to take their respective places back in the club’s starting line-up on Tuesday night.

The Reds, of course, are primed to return to action in just shy of 24 hours’ time.

After emerging with a 2-0 victory from the tie’s first-leg last week, Liverpool will make the trip to Spain, hopeful of booking their spot in the finale of the Champions League at the expense of La Liga outfit Villarreal.

In anticipation of his side’s return to continental action on Tuesday, Jurgen Klopp, in turn, opted to rest a host of his side’s key performers for a Premier League meeting with Newcastle United at the weekend..

All of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Ibrahima Konate, Fabinho, Thiago and Mohamed Salah were dropped to the bench for the trip to St. James’ Park.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media on Monday is anything to go by, then the Reds faithful need not fret.

This comes with the reliable James Pearce of The Athletic having confirmed that all of the aforementioned quintet will be back in the starting XI at El Madrigal tomorrow night.

Keita makes the difference

Jurgen Klopp shaking things up for the club’s visit to Tyneside on Saturday of course had little effect when it came to the game’s eventual outcome.

A solitary goal on the part of Naby Keita ultimately proved enough to guide Liverpool to all three points at Newcastle’s expense, ensuring that just a solitary point remains between the Reds and table-topping Manchester City in the race for the Premier League title.
