Flamingos secure sixth straight win in World Cup build-up

By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria’s U17 girls maintained their perfect form in preparations for the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup with a 2-0 victory over Josiah Academy on Tuesday at the FIFA Goal Project, Abuja.

All the action came early, with Chisom Nwachukwu netting a quickfire brace in the 6th and 10th minutes before the game was brought to an early end due to heavy rainfall.

The result means the Flamingos have now won all six of their build-up matches, scoring 17 goals without defeat.

Next up for Coach Bankole Olowookere’s girls is a rematch against Nazareth Angels on Friday, 26 September, at the NSC Practice Pitch, Abuja (3:30pm).

The Flamingos previously defeated the same opponents 5-0 earlier in camp.

They will also be in action again on Sunday as preparations intensify ahead of Morocco 2025.
