By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Nigeria forward, Flourish Sabastine played her first-ever professional match for Stade de Reims as the team secured a 2-0 win against Bordeaux in the French D1 Arkema encounter on Saturday.

Off a humiliating 5-1 loss to French champions, Lyon before the international break, Reims needed to bounce back and they did enough to earn a clinical triumph over their topflight rivals.

After a first half stalemate, Portuguese midfielder, Melissa Gomes scored the opener for the visitors in the 61st minute.

Noemie Mouchon doubled the lead for Reims in the additional minutes of the second half.

Sabastine who joined Reims from Bayelsa Queens replaced Gomes in the 79th minute after the latter broke the deadlock.

Her compatriots, Rofiat Imuran replaced Jade Nassi in the 46th minute, while Tosin Demehin was not dressed for the game following to a head injury picked up in Nigeria’s Olympic qualifiers against Ethiopia last Tuesday.

Reims moved to the fifth position on the French top-flight log with ten points after five games. The French club will next play Le Havre on November 11, 2023.
