Nigeria’s U20 team, the Flying Eagles, have taken a nine-day break following their two-match tour of Côte d’Ivoire last week.
Under the guidance of coach Aliyu Zubairu, the team will reconvene in Abuja on March 10 to continue their preparations for the Africa U20 Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is set to take place in Côte d’Ivoire from April 26 to May 18.
During their recent tour, the Flying Eagles secured a 2-0 victory over the Ivorian Young Elephants, with captain Daniel Bameyi and forward Divine Oliseh on the scoresheet.
However, they were defeated 2-0 in the second match of the tour.
The Flying Eagles will face a challenging group stage at the U20 AFCON, where they are drawn alongside Egypt, South Africa, and Morocco in Group B.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals, with the semifinalists earning automatic spots in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile later this year.
