Fouzi Lekjaa briefs African Ambassadors on Morocco’s AFCON 2025 Readiness

The Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat on Tuesday hosted a key briefing session between Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and head of the AFCON 2025 Local Organizing Committee, and African ambassadors accredited to Morocco.

During the high-level meeting, Lekjaa delivered an extensive update on Morocco’s preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, emphasising that the Kingdom is approaching the tournament with a comprehensive, continent-minded vision inspired by the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

He underscored that hosting AFCON 2025 is not only a national project but a shared African endeavour, reflecting Morocco’s longstanding commitment to continental cooperation and development.

The ambassadors expressed strong satisfaction with the pace and quality of preparations, commending the coordination and synergy between Moroccan institutions working on the tournament. They noted that the Kingdom’s organisational approach provides robust guarantees for a successful and exemplary edition of Africa’s biggest sporting event.

To reinforce collaboration, Lekjaa announced the creation of a dedicated communication and coordination unit linking the Local Organizing Committee with African diplomatic missions.

The new structure will facilitate administrative processes, support travel and accommodation arrangements for participating teams, and oversee essential logistical matters.

Participants also highlighted the remarkable progress in Morocco’s sports infrastructure, as well as the swift mobilisation of the nation’s authorities, describing these efforts as clear indicators that Morocco is on track to deliver a historic and exceptional AFCON.

In closing, Lekjaa reiterated that AFCON 2025 belongs to all of Africa, stressing Morocco’s unwavering commitment to staging a tournament worthy of the continent’s ambitions and in full alignment with Royal directives.
