Gbenga Ogunbote aims perfect NPFL finish for Shooting Stars after Insurance draw

Gbenga Ogunbote is looking forward to a perfect ending to his side’s 2022/2023 Nigeria Premier Football League regular season campaign against Enyimba in Ibadan.

Ogunbote led Shooting Stars to secure an inspiring 1-1 draw against Group A leaders, Insurance FC in Benin on Sunday after Sikiru Alimi rescued a priceless point for the visitors, cancelling Ismael Sarki opener for the hosts.

And the former Enyimba tactician is proud of his side’s spirited performance, while setting his sight on a dramatic final day clash with the People’s Elephants at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

“It was a good game, good goals, both teams played well except the fact that it was a game we should have wrapped up in the first half because we have some goo chances that are easier to score than miss them,” Ogunbote told NigeriaFootball.ng.

“I was coming here to beat them, its only a coach that doesn’t know what he wants that go into a match and concede defeat before the game as you can see on the field of play but I think they were lucky.

“We knew we were not going to be part of the Super Six, we lost it in the first round, we made some careless errors in the first round and we were able to pick up our pieces.

“The important thing is to finish on high as that will add to our integrity, its another ball game and we really want to win that as happy ending for all.”
