Gbenga Ogunbote shifts attention to making NPFL statement with Shooting Stars
By Wale Mustapha
Technical Adviser of Shooting Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote has disclosed that making a significant impact in the upcoming Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL is his next target.
Ogunbote who joined the Oluyole Warriors ahead of new campaign guided Shooting to lift the maiden NPFL/ Mmobuosi Super Cup Football Tournament beating Enyimba 3-2 in the final.
The former Remo Stars’ tactician expressed delight to have won the four team tourney but refused to be carried away by the euphoria of the achievement.
“It feels so good emerging the winner of this tournament. I am so proud of my players for displaying such great mentality to make this happen and I equally praise my coaches, the backroom staff and off course, the management of the team, not forgetting our ever supportive supporters.
“Be that as it may, this preseason tournament has ended, we will continue with our build up to the season.
“Apart from winning it, the tournament has helped us to further assess the team in a more competitive setting.
”There are still rooms for improvement, hence the need for us to return to the pitch immediately, because we need to work on those areas, so that we can be fully ready before the league begins, because we want to go into it with mindset of making history in it”, he said.
The ‘Oracle’ as Ogunbote is fondly called has handled top clubs in Nigeria top flight including Gateway FC, Sunshine Stars, Sharks, Enyimba, Rangers International and Lobi Stars.
