George Finidi outlines Rivers United’s strategy to close gap on Remo Stars

By Wale Mustapha

Rivers United Technical Adviser, George Finidi, has vowed that his team will push for victory in their remaining Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matches to secure the title, despite being five points behind leaders Remo Stars.

The Pride of Rivers closed the gap with a 1-0 win over Ikorodu City over the weekend, keeping their title hopes alive.

With 52 points from 30 matches, Rivers United are in second place, while Remo Stars, who have a match in hand, lead with 57 points.

“We will keep pushing and put more pressure on Remo Stars,” Finidi said in an interview with Rivers United’s media.

“We will definitely do our part and monitor the outcome of their postponed fixture. For us, our focus is on winning all our remaining league fixtures.”

Rivers United’s continued pursuit of the NPFL title will depend on both their own results and the outcome of Remo Stars’ outstanding match.
