Head coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, Kim Lars Björkegren, has tipped Nigeria’s Super Falcons to emerge victorious in the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) against host nation Morocco.
The Super Falcons will be aiming to lift a record-extending 10th WAFCON title when they face the Atlas Lionesses on Saturday in Rabat.
Björkegren’s Ghana side fell short against Morocco in the semi-finals, losing on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regulation time.
However, they bounced back to claim the bronze medal with a win over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana in the third-place match.
Reflecting on the final showdown, Björkegren acknowledged the contrasting styles of both teams but believes Nigeria’s quality gives them the edge.
“I think it’s going to be an interesting game. Both teams are a little different,” he said. “I think there is potential and more quality in Nigeria to win it.”
Nigeria, the most successful team in WAFCON history, will look to reclaim the continental crown after missing out on the title in 2022.
